The Ritsumeikan spirit of innovation was born in Japan’s Meiji era of modernization, when Prince Saionji Kinmochi founded his private academy of the same name in Kyoto in 1869. More than 140 years later, the academy has grown into a high-profile, internationally-active academic organization encompassing two universities and five secondary and primary schools.
At the heart of the Ritsumeikan system is Ritsumeikan University (RU). Founded in 1900, RU is a comprehensive institution encompassing 14 undergraduate colleges and 20 graduate schools across the four campuses. The university has a particularly strong track record in industry partnerships and community engagement both locally and internationally. With more than 110 years of history and a world wide network of graduates, the name ‘Ritsumeikan University’ is sure to open doors wherever your future takes you. RU currently offers two 4-year undergraduate bachelors degree programs taught entirely in English, with no Japanese language ability required for admission. The Global Studies major based in the College of International Relations and the Community and Regional Policy Studies major based in the College of Policy Science. In April 2017, RU will launch a brand-new English-medium program on ICT, the Information Systems Science and Engineering course in the College of Information Science and Engineering. Why not choose RU, have the time of your life and stand out from the crowd.
