University of Tsukuba, Master's Program in Sport and Olympic Studies

Through extensive and advanced education and research on human mind, body and various activities from the basics to applications, students are able to plan and execute research based on an advanced global perspective in their own academic field, and possess a wide range of knowledge about humans and possess excellent interdisciplinary skills. Researchers and university teachers who can plan and execute excellent academic research that can achieve cutting-edge fusion of different fields against the background of academic research and an international and interdisciplinary education and research environment. Cultivate highly specialized professionals who can research and design appropriate assistance and support to meet social needs.

Additional Information All learning is done in English, and upon entering the programme, students choose one of four areas of education and research fields: 1)Olympic/Paralympic Education, 2) Sport Management 3) Sport Science and Medicine, and 4) Teaching/Coaching/Japanese Culture. Although students focus mainly on the subjects in their chosen field, they also study about other fields in a balanced way.
More than 110 graduates have completed the programme. They now work in international sports organisations, overseas NFs, organizing committees for Olympic and Paralympic Games, sport-related companies, and educational institutions.
MEXT scholarship (Special Programme) is available for the 2024 intake.
