Miyazaki International University (MIU) is a private, four year university accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. MIU offers four courses: Global Liberal Arts, International Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and English Educaton. In Global Liberal Arts course, most of the classes are taught in English. Students may pursue studies in a wide range of Liberal Arts courses including Language and Literature, History, Humanities, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Economics, and Political Science.
Seventy percent of our faculty members are non-Japanese, making for a truly international community. Eighty five percent of content faculty members hold a Ph.D. (includes Ph.D. candidates), and all English faculty members have Master's level expertise or higher in TESL.
At the heart of MIU is a philosophy of active learning. We believe that knowledge is not acquired passively, but that students engage actively in discussing, reading, writing, and problem solving. Through active learning, students develop practical critical thinking skills that enable them to analyze, synthesize, evaluate and create.
Students will develop English and Japanese language skills and explore diverse academic disciplines through small classes of less than 20 students.
MIU is a small community, thus MIU faculty members get to know each student individually. Through personalized instruction, faculty members evaluate student progress on a daily or weekly basis.
