The International College of Liberal Arts (iCLA) is a four- year, American style liberal arts college where the primary language of instruction is English. International students study Japanese language alongside their degree studies, starting from any level, even complete beginner. Students can choose from a wide array of courses as part of an innovative curriculum which leads to a bachelor’s degree in International Liberal Arts. Over 50% of our students and 60% of our faculty members are from overseas, creating a truly multi-cultural environment

Just 90 minutes west of Tokyo, iCLA combines a multi-cultural learning environment with a beautifully traditional Japanese setting in the shadow of Mt Fuji. iCLA offers students the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the very essence of Japanese culture, whilst acquiring a contemporary and globally relevant education at our state of the art facilities.

Additional Information iCLA's Japan Studies Program is composed of the Japan Area Studies Program (JAS) and the Japanese Language Program (JLP). A unique feature of JAS is the many experiential workshops taught by masters in Noh theater, Koto and Shakuhachi, Zen and Shinto, Shodo, Sado, and Kado, and the martial arts - Aikido, Judo, Karate, and Shugendo. The JLP includes not only a full range of Japanese language training from introductory to advanced courses, but also courses in Professional Writing in Japanese, Reading Japanese Newspapers, and Public Speech in Japanese. Our Language Acquisition Center (LAC) includes a Japanese Writing Desk to help Japanese and international students improve their Japanese writing skills.
